DC Veg Restaurant Week Kick off Party at sPACYcLOUd

sPACYcLOUd, an Eastern European vegan bar and restaurant, will kick off DC Veg Restaurant Week with a happy hour on Saturday, May 7, at 4 pm.

The week-long event through May 14 features over 30 restaurants and has received a proclamation from Mayor Muriel Bowser. The values of DC’s first-ever Vegan week will help “lower the risk of heart disease, stroke obesity, and type 2 diabetes” and the “shift toward plant-centric food norms would help lower greenhouse gas emissions,” the Mayor said.

Max Broad, the lead organizer, asked sPACYcLOUd to host the happy hour. “sPACY is a unique space that opens to a streetery which is perfect for the community to come together to talk about and learn more about vegan values.” Owner Tati Kolina, who is an immigrant with Ukrainian and Russian heritage, created the restaurant with an inclusive community in mind, bringing in her eclectic tastes in veganism, skateboarding and her love of music with a rotating set of live DJs. During the happy hour. sPACYcLOUD will have specialties like the vareniki and pelmini dumplings and vegan favorites like the Beyond Meat burger. To celebrate the beginning of DC Vegan Week, sPACYcLOUd is also introducing several new dishes including PBLT (Plant Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato), Chicken, and Fish burgers.

After dinner, customers can carry on at the bar downstairs and try a selection of Ukrainian beers, Georgian wines, and unique cocktails like La Femme Nikita and the Socialist Lychee. sPACYcLOUd is also introducing a new cocktail, “Bloody Dictator”!

Around the corner from sPACYcLOUd are other restaurants participating in DC Vegan Week, like El Tamarindo. Across the city, other restaurants include fine dining spots such as Equinox Restaurant and DC Harvest. The inaugural DC Veg Restaurant Week is being organized by DC Voters for Animals Education Fund and seven partner organizations--see more at VegDC.org Kick off your DC Vegan week restaurant hopping experience with sPACYcLOUD in Adams Morgan on Saturday, May 7!
