Join DSA for Bernie on Wednesday, March 11 at 7:00 PM for our film screening of the legendary Sergei Eisenstein film “Battleship Potemkin” (1925). We will be on the upper floor of the one and only sPACYcLOUd Lounge in Adams Morgan!
Battleship Potemkin is considered one of the greatest and most important films in cinematic history. From a technical standpoint, it served to revolutionize ideas about film editing by acting as a showcase of director Sergei Eisenstein’s montage. From a political standpoint, Potemkin is an essential Marxist visual text. It was constructed as revolutionary propaganda, and the power of the images of the harrowing true-life events it chronicles is still breathtaking today.
